• REGULATIONS OF THE COMPETITION

    Objectives 

    • To promote winter sports in Jūrmala
    • To promote active and healthy lifestyle
    • To increase the number of tourists in Jūrmala in winter

    Chief judge of the skiing competition

    The Start / Finish area will be located at the beach by the Baltic Beach Hotel, Jūras iela 23/25

    Distances

    10 km distance (2 x 5 km)

    Starts at 11:00. The start/ finish area will be located at the Majori beach by the Baltic Beach Hotel. The track will be marked on the beach in Jūrmala.  The competitors will have to complete two laps. Every lap is 5 km long. Free of charge participation is provided for children under the age of 12 and for schoolchildren.

    5 km distance

    Starts at 12:30. The start/ finish area will be located at the Majori beach by the Baltic Beach Hotel. The track will be marked on the beach in Jūrmala. The competitors will have to complete one lap. The length of one lap is 5 km. Free of charge participation is provided for children under the age of 12 and for schoolchildren.

    Ski race for kids

    Starts at 13:30. The start/ finish area will be located at the Majori beach by the Baltic Beach Hotel. The track will be marked on the beach in Jūrmala. The track will be located in the start/finish area. The length of the track will be 500 m — 1 km, depending on the age group. The ski race for kids is open for participation to children under the age of 12.

    IN THE EVENT OF ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS, SKIING WILL BE REPLACED BY RUNNING AND STICK WALKING

    In the event skiing is cancelled, the participants of the event will have an opportunity of reregistering for any of the running distances, stick walking or to reclaim their participation fee by writing to registracija@alphabaltic.lv

    The start/ finish area will be located at the Majori beach by the Baltic Beach Hotel. The track will be marked on the beach in Jūrmala. The track will be located in the start/ finish area. No time control will be ensured during the competition.

    Advance registration

    Advance registration for the competition closes on 17 February, at 00:00. It can be done:
    At www.maratoni.lv, using the http://ib.swedbank.lv payment form (for the clients of Swedbank, who use the online banking services) or by credit or debit card via the internet (Visa, MasterCard, Visa Electron, Maestro);

     Using an invoice is allowed for corporate entities after they submit their list of participants and their bank account derails to the following e-mail address: sport@alphabaltic.lv

    Registration on the day of the competition
    On the day of the competition, registration can be done in the start/finish area on the beach by the Baltic Beach Hotel, at the registration tent starting at 08:00. The registration of participants for each distance closes 30 minutes before the start.

    • If a participant does not participate or show up at the competition, their participation fee will not be refunded.
    • Should a participant wish to reregister for another distance, the full price set by the organisers for that distance would have to be paid.
    • No participation fee is refunded if the competition is cancelled due to force majeure circumstances.

    Participation fee covers:

    • An all day long extensive entertainment programme;
    • Drinking stations on the track;
    • Snacks after the finish;
    • A professionally prepared track;
    • Medical assistance at the place of the competition and at the service stations on the track;
    • Ski service at the place of the competition;
    • Security service at the place of the competition;
    • A racing number for the participant.

    Participants are placed at the start according to their registration date;
    The participants who do not register in advance and register on the day of competition will be automatically placed in the last group.

    Participant racing number

    • The racing number is issued to the participant on the day of the competition at the registration point.
    • The racing number of the participant shall be collected no later than 30 minutes before the start of the respective distance.
    • During the competition, the racing number shall be fixed to the chest area.
    • The participants of the competition will also receive special time measurement devices (chips).
    • The participants must affix the chip to the area indicated by the organisers.
    • The time measuring device (chip) shall be returned after the finish, it will be removed by qualified specialists.
    • If the participant of the competition forgets to return the chip on the day of the competition, it can also be returned within a week after the competition at the office of the organisers at 19 Stabu street. If the chip is not returned within a week’s time, it is considered lost and an invoice is issued to the respective contestant for the lost chip.
    • Fine for the loss of the chip—50 EUR.

    Awards ceremony

    GIFT CARDS
    Awards ceremonies for each particular distance are held immediately after the judges have summarised the results. The approximate waiting time: up to 1 hour.
    All the participants of the competition are strongly advised to attend the awards ceremony. No award will be issued to a person if he or she is absent from the awards ceremony.

    Team assessment

    • The minimum number of participants to be registered as a team is 4 people
    • The maximum number of participants in a team is not limited.
      The team result is calculated based on the sum of the times of the 4 best team members.
      The individual results of team members are also considered.
      Teams can be registered to represent companies and clubs, or as independent teams.
    • The overall team result is not separated for men and women.

    General rules
      

    • Penalty for unauthorised advertising at the place of the competition is 5000 EUROS.
    • Upon collecting the racing number, every participant of the competition signs a waiver, taking full responsibility for the suitability of their health for the distance.
    • Applying for the competition, all participants certify that they do not object to the use of photo images taken during the competition for marketing and PR activities.
    • The organisers are not liable for any potential injuries of participants during the competition.
    • Participants who take unauthorised shortcuts on the distance are disqualified.
    • The judges along with the organisers are entitled to resolve issues not regulated by the rules of the competition
    • The organizers are not responsible for the failure of participants to be aware of and the failure to adhere to the rules of the competition.\
    • Organisations and teams can ask for an invoice and pay via a bank transfer. Invoice shall be paid 3 days before the start of the competition.
    • The participation fee is not reimbursed to those participants who are fail to attend the competition.
    • Making an unauthorised number badge is punished by voiding of the racing results of the participant.
    • Participants of the competition are prohibited from affecting other competitors and their results.
    • Every participant of the competition who believes that his or her performance has been impaired by any actions in any way before crossing the finish line can submit their claim to the chief judge. The claim shall be submitted within 15 minutes time after the completion of the distance at the information tent; the procedure involves paying the fee of 30 EUR.
    • The results will be published at www.maratoni.lv.
  • INDIVIDUAL ASSESSMENT

    Objective

    Matrix for counting points

    • Every participant will receive a participant’s card at the registration tent;
    • The name and surname of the participant must be indicated in his or her participant’s card;
    • When attending sports activities (except skiing) organised within the framework of the Winter Sports Festival, the chief judge of the respective activity will make a note on the card, certifying that the task has been completed;
    • After participation in any 3 activities and receipt of the due mark from the judge, the participant will be enrolled in a prize draw for valuable prizes from the supporters of the event;
    • The filled-in participant’s card must be submitted to the registration tent;

    Activities

    Skeleton test rides or magical bicycle contest

    Skeleton test rides

    • Two 100 m long ice circuits will be built at the place of competition;
    • The participant will have to complete the distance from the start to the finish line on the skeleton sledge;
    • Upon reaching the finish line, the participant’s card will be marked to certify the completion of this task;

    Magical bicycle contest

    • A small track with obstacles will be built at the place of competition;
    • The participant will receive a bicycle with a steering mechanism working in the opposite direction. When the steering wheel is turned to the left, the bicycle goes to the right;
    • The participant must cover the distance from the start to the finish on this bicycle;
    • Upon reaching the finish line, the participant’s card will be marked to certify the completion of this task.

    Measuring the strength of ice-hockey power strike

    • An ice-hockey gate will be placed at the place of competition with an artificial ice cover;
    • Participant’s strength of strike at the gate will be measured (km/h);
    • After this task is completed, the judge will make the relevant note on the participant’s card;
    • Results will be assessed as a total score among all the participants;
    • The strongest striker among women and the strongest striker among men will receive a prize from the supporters of the event.

    Shooting

    • A biathlon shooting course will be built at the place of the competition;
    • Every participant gets 5 shots;
    • Shots must be made from the lying position;
    • Upon the completion of this task, the participant’s card will be marked respectively;

    Relay race with giant skis

    • An obstacle course with cones will be built;
    • The distance shall be completed jointly by 2-5 participants;
    • Basic principle of the race: to complete the distance in a concerted rhythm without falling down; 
    • Upon the completion of this task, the participant’s card will be marked respectively;

    Towing of a friend on inflatables

    • An obstacle course with cones will be built;
    • One of the participants is pulling a friend on an inflatable in one direction;
    • At the end of the track, participants must switch places; 
    • Upon the completion of this task, the participant’s card will be respectively marked;

    Throwing of snow balls or simple balls at the target;

    • Overthrow as many bottles as possible by using 3 snow balls;
    • Upon the completion of this task, the participant’s card will be marked respectively;

     

    General regulations 

    • The participant shall be disqualified for the unauthorised marking of the participant’s card;
    • If a card is not submitted on the day of competition at the registration tent, it shall not be counted in the overall prize-drawing;

  • ASSESSMENT OF JŪRMALA SCHOOLS

    Objective 

    • To promote winter sports among Jūrmala schools
    • To promote active and healthy lifestyle
    • To identify the best school of Jūrmala in sports

     Matrix for counting points

    Mollers’ skiing or running and stick walking

    • The number of points granted to the school is equal to the number of participants at the start (e.g., if 100 participants are registered by a school, but only 50 participants appear at the start, the school gets only 50 points);
    • The number of participants is determined according to the data submitted by judges to the organisers of the competition;

     Matrix for counting points in other activities

    • A member’s card is issued to every participant at the registration tent;
    • The participant’s card must contain the following information:
    • Name, surname of the participant;
    • Name of the school
    • When participating in any sports activities (except the skiing) organised within the framework of the Winter Sports Festival, the chief judge of the respective activity will make a note on the card that the task has been completed;
    • For every activity performed, the participant earns 1 point for his or her school;
    • The participant must submit the participant’s card to the registration tent;
    • Results by schools will be summarised and the winners will be announced by 27.02.2015;

     Main award 

    • Performance of a popular band at the school;

    NB! The times of running and stick walking will be updated in the event no sufficient quantity of snow will be available for building a skiing track!

    General regulations

    • The participant shall be disqualified for the unauthorised marking of the participant’s card and the points collected by that participant shall not be added to the score of the school, which he or she is representing;
    • The provision of incorrect information in the participant’s card shall be punished by the disqualification of the participant (e.g., indicating a school not actually attended);
    • Organisers and judges are authorised to request presenting the pupil’s ID card at the place of competition;
    • If a card is not submitted on the day of competition at the registration tent, it shall not be counted in the overall result of the school;
    • When applying for the competition, all participants shall certify that they do not object to the use of photo images taken during the competition for marketing and PR activities.
    • The organisers of the competition shall bear no liability for the potential injuries of participants during the competition.
    • Organisers shall bear no responsibility for the failure of participants to be aware of and failure to adhere to the regulations of the competition.
