Latvian Cycling Festival in Olaine

COMPETITION RULES

 

Goal:

  • ·         To popularize the bicycling sport in Latvia as a type of sport available for everyone.
  • ·         To facilitate involvement of the inhabitants of Olaine region in the active sports.
  • ·         To increase the level of mastery of the Latvian bicyclists.
  • ·         To promote active and healthy life style.
  • ·         To promote family involvement in the joint physical activities in open air.

 

Organizer:

  • ·         The competition is organised by SIA Alpha Baltic Sport in cooperation with Olaine region municipality and Latvian Cycling Federation.

  • ·         The competition will be lead by the team of referees approved by the Panel of Referees of the Latvian Cycling Federation.

 

Start/ Finish zone:

  • in Olaine, at Zemgales iela, in front of the open-air stage of Olaine Mežaparks.

 

Distances:

 More detailed description of distances will follow!

  • Sport Road Distance (100 km).

Participants, who have participated in the Sport Distance, are prohibited to participate in the Popular Distance. The time limit of 3h is set for the Sports Distance. The referees will point to the participants, exceeding the set time limit, with a red flag, which means that the participants have to leave the race and continue the driving pursuant to the general road traffic rules. Only road sport bicycles, which are provided for cycling in a group, are permitted to participate in the Sports Distance. Each registered team may be accompanied by one technical support car during the distance, a car driver and a mechanics need a licence issued by the LCF.

  • Popular Road Distance (45 km).


Participants, who have participated in the Sport Distance, are prohibited to participate in the Popular Distance. The sports tandems, individual road sport bicycles and bicycles equipped with sleep handlebars are prohibited to participate in the distance. During the race the traffic will be temporary closed in the driving direction. The time limit set for taking the Popular Distance - 2.5 hours. The referees will point to the participants, who exceed the set time limit, with a red flag, which means that participants have to leave the race. Bicycles equipped with baby seats and bicycle trailers are permitted to participate only in the Family Distance.

  •  MTB Distance (42 km).

During the race, the traffic will be closed in both directions. The route will be marked in the cross country area (field, forest, dirt road, paths and water barriers). The time limit set for taking the MTB distance - 2.5 hours. The referees will point to the participants, who exceed the set time limit, with a red flag, which means that participants have to leave the race.

 

  • Family Distance (6 km). No age restrictions. Time limit for taking the route - 1 hour. The referees will point to the participants, who exceed the set time limit, with a red flag, which means that participants have to leave the race.

 

  • Children' Distance (0.5-1 km). The distance is established within the Start/Finish area.

Participation fee and registration:

  •  ·         Prior registration for the race by 20 August at 23:59 o'clock at -  www.maratoni.lv,
  • ·         It is possible to register using http://ib.swedbank.lv payment form (for "Swedbank clients using internet-banking services) or by credit and debit card payment options via Internet (Visa, MasterCard, Visa Electron, Maestro - except for American Express cards).
  • ·         Similarly, on the webpage www.maratoni.lv it is possible to receive invoice. Payment for invoice shall be made by at least Wednesday of the week of the race - 20 August

Registration on the day of the race will take place in the registration tent at the start/finish area, starting as of 8:30 o'clock. Registration of participants for each distance will be closed 1 h before the start.

 

  • ·         If a participant does not come to a race, participation fee is non-refundable.
  • ·         If the participant is willing to register for another distance, he/she has to apply for that until the last day of the registration (20 August) by writing to registracija@alphabaltic.lv. After completion of the registration the full price set for the relevant distance by organizers of the race has to be paid.
  • ·         Inaccuracies/ errors/ changes made in the application during the registration may be adjusted by 20 August by writing to: registracija@alphabaltic.lv
  • ·         In the case if the competition is cancelled due to the force majeure, the participation fee shall not be returned.

 

Participation fee includes:

 

  • ·         drinking points during the distance and at the finish area;
  • ·         catering after crossing the finish line;
  • ·         professionally prepared track;
  • ·         storage room;
  • ·         lockers;
  • ·         medical aid in the place of the race and technical points of the distance;
  • ·         bicycle service on site;
  • ·         prizes from sponsors and supporters of the event;
  • ·         participant number;
  • ·         result recording and sending to the mobile phone of the participant;
  • ·         bicycle wash after crossing the finish line.

 

Taking places on start

  • ·         Participants shall take their corridor place according to the sequence of assigned numbers.
  • ·         Start numbers will be assigned on the basis of the date of registration/payment.
  • ·         For the children's distance corridors shall be made according to the groups of age, separately for girls and boys.
  • ·         Guests invited by the organizers of the event shall take the start positions in the second corridor.

Participant's number and time measurement chip:

 

  • ·         Participants, who have registered in advance, have to pick up the race numbers at least 30 minutes prior to the registration of the relevant distance in the tent.
  • ·         Numbers shall be affixed prior to entry to the start corridor and they may be removed only after the end of the ride.
  • ·         For the Popular and Sports Distance the numbers shall be affixed to the bottom part of the back (2 numbers). For the Sports Distance additional number shall be affixed to the seat post.
  • ·         For the Family and Children' race the number shall be affixed to the handlebars.
  • ·         Special time measurement equipment - chips will also be issued to participants of the race.
  • ·         Upon receiving the chip, all participants shall affix it according to the instruction.
  • ·         The time measurement equipment (chip) has to be returned right after crossing the finish line and it has to be removed by qualified professionals.
  • ·         In the case if the participant of the race has forgot to return the chip on the day of the race, it may be returned within a week after the race to the office of organizers at Stabu iela 19, Riga.
  • ·         Penalty for the lost or unreturned chip - EUR 30.

·         There is no separate division into age groups in the Family Distance.

 

Awards ceremony:

  • ·         The top 10 positions in the Road Sports, Popular Road and MTB Distances will be awarded with money awards individually, pursuant to genders.
  • ·         Each person taking the hundredth (100th, 200th, 300th etc.) position will be awarded with the prize of EUR 100 individually, pursuant to the gender - within 1 week after specifying results.
  • ·         Money awards are paid out in EUR
  • ·         Money awards are paid via bank transfer to the winners bank account. Recipient of the money award has to fill in the money award receipt guarantee report on the day of the race in the info tent, upon presenting a personal identity document (passport, ID card, driver's licence).
  • ·         The top 3 positions will receive valuable prizes from cooperation partners in each age group in the Sports, Popular, MTB and Children' Distance individually, pursuant to the gender.
  • ·         The top 3 positions will receive valuable prizes from cooperation partners according to the team results in the Sports, Popular, MTB and Children' Distance.
  • ·         The team result for children's race are determined by summing the top four positions from one team of different age groups.
  • ·         There is no separate result for age groups in the Family Distance. Results will be recorded for all participants. Cooperation partners will provide prizes for participants in different nominations.
  • ·         Pursuant to the request of the organizers, all participants of the race have to participate in the awards ceremony. For the awards ceremony you have to appear in the cycling outline .   In the case of failure to appear for awards ceremony, the prize will not be granted.

Total prize fund constitutes 5260 euro.

 

Team evaluation:

  • ·         Minimum number of participants, which the team may apply, in order to include the team for evaluation, shall be 4 participants.
  • ·         All members of the team, even if they register individually, need to have a precise name of the team.
  • ·         The number of participants in the team is not limited.
  • ·         Team results consist of the combined times of the 4 fastest participants.
  • ·         Individual results of a teams participants will also be evaluated.
  • ·         Teams can be registered as an enterprise, a club or an independent team.
  • ·         Team total evaluation is not divided between men and women separately.

 

General Provisions:

·         The organisers are not responsible for participants non-compliance and ignorance of the provisions.

·         When registering for the race and making payment, every participant of the competition must sign a waiver, according to which the participant takes full responsibility for the suitability of their health for the selected route.

·         The competition takes place in accordance with the UCI regulations.

·         Wearing protection helmets designed for cycling is mandatory.

·         The participants who ride with an unstrapped protection helmet or without it shall be disqualified.

·         It is forbidden to participate with a bicycle that is not in good technical order and is designed for street riding.. The bicycle must be equipped with brakes. Referees of the race can ban a participant from the competition upon inspecting the technical condition of his/her bicycle.

·         The organizers of the race are not responsible for participants, who fail to fit into the limit set for taking the course.

·         Bicycles and tandems equipped with baby seats and bicycle trailers are permitted to participate only in the Family Distance.

·         Organizers of the race shall not bear any responsibility for participants, who take the distance without registration and consent of the organizers.

·         It is not permitted to participate in any of the distances with a bicycle designed for participation in an individual race.

·         Participants must observe the road traffic safety rules during the race.

·         The penalty for unauthorised advertising at the place of the competition is 10,000 EUR.

·         During the registration, all the participants must confirm that they do not object to the use of photographs taken at the competition for marketing and advertising the competition.

·         The competition organisers are not responsible for the injuries that may occur in the course of the competition.

·         Self made participants numbers will result in a fine and cancellation of the result.

·         Participants who take unauthorised shortcuts on the route shall be disqualified.

·         Participants who cross the finish line in an opposite direction shall be disqualified.

·         In the case of crossing the finish line for several times, the time and relevant position of the last crossing shall be recorded.

·         Doping control may be introduced in the competition.

·         During the race, participants are prohibited to affect other runners and their results with their actions.

·         Any race participant who considers that they were restricted by some action, before crossing the finish line, may submit a claim to the Chief Referee. The complaint shall be submitted in writing within 15 minutes after the end of the race in the information tent.

 

For attention of the participants!

 

·         The Panel of Referees together with the organisers of the event are entitled to make decisions regarding the issues, which are not specified by the regulation.

·         Provisional results will be published in the evening of the day of the race at www.maratoni.lv.

·         After evaluation of complaints and inaccuracies the approved results will be published 1 week after the race.

·         Complaints regarding results have to be sent to the e-mail: registracija@alphabaltic.lv at least one week after the race!
