A two-day competition Audi Weekend 2012 took place in Saaremaa on April 21-22. Team Alpha Baltic/Unitymarathons.com showed excellent results both in group and criterium races. Apart from this, Alpha Baltic/Unitymarathons.com team representatives gained leading positions in 50-km-long distance of the 1st stage of MTB TREK marathon in Ventspils City and Ulstein Nordea marathon in Norway.
A criterium race took place in Saaremaa on April 21. Erki Pütsep, a representative of Alpha Baltic/Unitymarathons.com, took the first place by obtaining 35 points. His closest follower Mihkel Räim dropped behind Pütsep by 16 points.
Erki Pütsep was in the leading position throughout the first 22 laps. Only in the final five laps, when it was clear that nobody would be able to pull ahead of him, he helped his team member Māris Bogdanovičs acquire a higher position.
“Team work is very important for me, therefore I help my team members anytime I have a chance. After this competition I realised that two-month training was worth it and I am in good physical shape. My next goal is to be in TOP 3 at Himmerland Rundt UCI 1.2 in Denmark; I hope I will succeed,” Erki Pütsep said after the competition.
Māris Bogdanovičs took the sixth place with eight points. In general the criterium race was rather intense with an average speed of 39.86km/h.
Meanwhile the 75-km-long group race Audi Saaremaa GP took place on April 22. Māris Bogdanovičs had the best result from team AlphaBaltic/Unitymarathons.com as he took the third place. This competition ended in large group finish.
Apart from this, the 1st stage of MTB TREK marathon took place in Ventspils City last weekend. A representative of team Alpha Baltic/Unitymarathons.com Matīss Preimanis took the first place in the 50-km-long distance with the result of two hours, 14 minutes and 25 seconds.
Meanwhile Ola Inge Drøpping from team Alpha Baltic/Unitymarathons.com achieved the first place in Ulstein Nordea competition in Norway. In total 143 cyclists participated therein.
On April 28, team Alpha Baltic/Unitymarathons.com will take part in Meldgaardløbet Rødekro CC in Denmark, whereas on April 29 – Himmerland Rundt UCI 1.2 in Denmark and 25 Main-Spessart-Rundfahrt in Germany.
