COMPETITION REGULATIONS

 

Goal 

  • Promote athletic cycling in Latvia and Jurmala as a sport that is accessible to Kekava
  • Promote the involvement of Kekava Municipality residents in athletic activities
  • Improve the expertise of cycling athletes in Latvia
  • Promote healthy, active lifestyle.
  • Promote outdoor athletic activities that unite entire families

  • The competition will be overseen by a panel of judges of the Latvian Cycling Federation.

Start/finish zone:

  • "Bultas", Ķekavas parish, Ķekavas district. At Kekava sports club.
  • Street opposite Kekava sports club closed to traffic the entire length.

 

Distances:

 

Sports Route (110 km)

Lap route: Ķekava - Daugmale - Baldone - Kekava (3 laps). Sports race can drive only licensed athletes. Participants who participated in sports race, prohibited from participating in the People's distance. Tracks coverage of 90% asphalt, 10% hard-surfaced gravel road. Only athletes that have a licence issued by a UCI-recognised national federation may participate in the Sports Route race. Only athletes born in 1999 (age group A, according to the Latvian Cycling Federation) or earlier are allowed to participate in the Sports Route race. The time allotted for the race on the Sports Route is 3 hours. Participants who fall behind the main group for more than 10 minutes will be able to leave the race and reach the finish zone using the broom wagon, or continue the race observing the traffic laws. The participants who exceed the time limit will not be allowed to cross the finish line and will be directed to the finish zone via an alternative route. Only those with traditional road cycling bicycles that are suitable for riding in groups will be admitted to the sports route. Each team that applies for the route can take one technical assistance car to the race: the driver of the car and the mechanic must have a licence by LCF or a national federation recognised by UCI.

Popular Route (45 km)

Lap route: Ķekava - Daugmale - Baldone - Ķekava (1 lap). Participants who participated in sports race, prohibited from participating in the Popular distance. Sportman allowed to start the race with tandems sports, individual sports road bikes and bicycles, which are equipped with sleeping rudders. During the race traffic is temporarily suspended in the direction of travel. The group is accompanied by National Police crews. Tracks coverage of 90% asphalt, 10% hard-surfaced gravel road. Gravel stage are provided a number of technical assistance (2-4-6 pcs.) People's distance is determined time limit tracks the performance of - 2.5 hours. Participants who will not fit into the time limit, will not be allowed to cross the finish line and will be directed to the finish area through the alternative route.Family Route (10 km). Tracks coverage of 100% asphalt. The track and the time limit of 1 hour. Participants who will not fit into the time limit, will not be allowed to cross the finish line and will be directed to the finish area through the alternative route.

Participation fees and registration:

  • Advance registration for the competition will take place until 23:59 on 18 May at www.maratoni.lv.
  • Furthermore, it is possible to receive the corresponding bill at the www.maratoni.lv website. The bill must be paid no later than the last Wednesday before the competition, i.e. 18 May!

  • Registration on the day of the competition takes place in the registration booth, in the start/finish zone, starting at 8:00.  Registration for each route closes 1 hour before the beginning of the race on the respective routes.
  • If a participant does not join the race or does not arrive at the competition, the respective registration fee is not reimbursed.
  • If a participant wishes to re-register and switch to another route, the participant should send an application to sport@alphabaltic.lv before the final day of registration (18 May). After the registration closes, the full price of the route set by the competition organisers will have to be paid.
  • Any mistakes/imprecisions that occurred during the registration, as well as the corresponding corrections can be reported in writing by 18 May via e-mail: sport@alphabaltic.lv.
  • If the competition is called off due to force-majeure, the registration fees are not reimbursed.

 

Registration fee includes:

  • drinking stations on the routes and at the finish;
  • meal service after the finish;
  • professionally arranged track;
  • storage service for personal belongings;
  • dressing rooms;
  • medical assistance at the place of the event and at the service stations on the routes;
  • bicycle repair service at the place of the event;
  • prizes from the sponsors and partners of the event;
  • participant number badge;
  • provision of results by sending them to the participant mobile phone;

 

Place distribution at the start line:

  • Participants will be placed at the start line according to the numbers on their number badges.
  • Number badges are issued according to the registration date.
  • For the Sports, Popular athletes, the number badges are issued according to the 2015 marathon results.
  • The first group spots will on the Sports, Popular Routes will be issued to the 2015 marathon TOP100 cyclists (on the corresponding route).
  • The starting groups for the children’s route are filled according to the age group and separately for boys and girls.

Participant number badge and time measurement chip:

  • Participant number badges for the competition are handed out to the participants on the day of the competition at the registration booth; the badges will also be issued in advance, on the day before the competition (the time and place will be specified).
  • Participants registered in advance must pick up their number badge at the registration booth no less than 30 minutes before the start of the race on their chosen route; the badges will also be issued in advance, on the day before the competition (the time and place will be specified).
  • The number badges must be affixed by the participants before taking their places at the start and can only be removed after they finish the race.
  • For the races on the road routes, an additional number badge must be attached to the saddle pin of the bicycle.
  • For the races on the popular and sports routes, the number badges must be attached to the lower part of the back (2 badges).
  • For the family and children’s routes, a number badge must be attached to the handlebars.
  • The plastic number badge must be affixed to the handlebar with straps. The textile number badge must be affixed at centre-left of the back.
  • For the family and children’s routes, a number badge must be attached to the handlebars.
  • The specialised time measurement devices, i.e. chips, will be embedded into the number badges.
  • The time measurement chips need not be returned.

 

Activities at the place of the competition:

  • free meal service for all the participants;
  • bicycle repair service;
  • itinerant market;
  • attractive MCs and DJ music;
  • food tasting;
  • contests and prizes from the sponsors;
  • award ceremony;
  • blow-up amusements and creative workshops for children.

  • The race on the Family Route will not be split into age groups. Results will be recorded for all the participants. Prizes from the partners of the event will be offered to the participants in various categories, which will be announced at least a week before the competition (with 10 categories in total).

 

Award ceremony:

  • Money prizes will be awarded to the winners of the top 6 places on the Sports, Popular Routes, separately for men and women.
  • The money prizes will be paid in EUROS.
  • The payment of the money prizes will be completed via bank transfers to the bank accounts of the respective participants. On the day of the competition, in the info booth, those who win money prizes must fill in a form guaranteeing the receipt of the money prize. They must present a document confirming their identity (passport, ID card, driving licence).
  • Valuable prizes from the partners of the event will be awarded to the winners of the first 3 places in each age group on the Sports, Popular, Children’s Routes, for men and women (boys and girls) separately.
  • Valuable prizes from the partners of the event will be awarded to the teams that take the first 3 places in each age group on the Sports, Popular, Children’s Routes.
  • The race on the family route will not be split into age groups. Results will be recorded for all the participants. Prizes from the partners of the event will be offered to the participants in various categories.
  • The participants shall join the award ceremony at the request of the organisers. The participants of the award ceremony must attend it in a cycling sports uniform. Should a prize winner not join the award ceremony, the respective prize will not be awarded.

Team ratings:

  • Teams are rated separately for each route, except the Family Route. No team rating takes place on the Family Route.
  • The minimum allowed number of members in a team for the team to enter the team ratings is 4.
  • All the members of the team, even if they register individually, must have the full name of the team on them.
  • There is no upper limit for the number of members in a team.
  • Team results are based on the sum of the times of the 4 fastest team members. If this method does not make it possible to determine the best team, the top place is awarded to the team whose fastest athlete obtained the highest place.
  • The total team result is considered for men and women together.
  • The team ratings on Children’s Route race are determined by summing up 4 highest places won by the team in different age groups.

 

General conditions:

  • The organisers are not responsible for the participants’ not knowing or not observing the regulations of the competition.
  • Registering for the competition and paying for it, every participant of the competition must confirm that they take full responsibility for the suitability of their health for the selected route.
  • The competition takes place according to the UCI regulations.
  • Wearing protection helmets designed for cycling is mandatory; attaching any solid objects (such as video cameras) to the helmet is prohibited
  • The participants who ride with an unstrapped protection helmet or without a protection helmet shall be disqualified.
  • It is forbidden to participate with a bicycle that is not in good technical order and is not designed for street riding. The bicycle must be equipped with brakes. The judges of the competition can ban a participant from the competition upon inspecting the technical condition of his/her bicycle.
  • The competition organisers do not take responsibility for the participants who exceed the time limit specified for each route.
  • Tandems and bikes equipped with child seats and bike trailers may only be used on the Family Route.
  • The competition organisers do not take any responsibility for the participants who join any race without registration or their approval.
  • Using bikes designed for individual races is forbidden on all of the routes.
  • During the race, the participants must observe the traffic laws.
  • The penalty for unauthorised advertising at the place of the competition is 10,000 EUR.
  • During the registration, all the participants must confirm that they do not object to the use of photographs taken at the competition for marketing and advertising of the competition.
  • The competition organisers are not responsible for the injuries that may occur during the course of the competition.
  • The production of unauthorised number badges is penalised with race result invalidation.
  • Participants who take unauthorised shortcuts on the route shall be disqualified.
  • Crossing the finish line in the opposite direction is penalised with disqualification.
  • If a participant crosses the finish line repeatedly, the time and place of the last crossing is registered.
  • Doping control may be introduced in the competition.
  • During the race, its participants must in no way affect other participants and their results.
  • Any participant who believes to have been a victim of another participant’s misconduct can lodge a complaint to the commissaire. This must be done within 15 minutes after the complaining participant crosses the finish line, at the information booth.

 

Participants’ attention:

  • The judge panel together with the organisers have the power to make decisions on the issues that are not specified in these competition regulations.
  • Preliminary results will be published on the evening after the competition at www.maratoni.lv.
  • Confirmed results will be published 1 week after the competition, after assessing any complaints and imprecisions.
  • Any complaints regarding the results shall be sent via e-mail to sport@alphabaltic.lv no more than a week after the competition!

Time till race
