MTB competition and children’s cycling competition regulations

Goals

  • Promote the involvement of Mārupe Municipality residents in athletic activities;
  • Promote mountain cycling in Mārupe Municipality;
  • Promote positive attitude towards cycling sports and athletic, active and healthy lifestyle among young people in Mārupe;
  • Offer children and teenagers an opportunity to participate in a healthy athletic activity;
  • Improve the expertise of mountain cycling athletes in Latvia and Mārupe Municipality;
  • Promote healthy, active lifestyle;
  • Increase the number of tourists coming to Mārupe Municipality and Latvia.

 

Organiser

  • The competition is organised by SIA Alpha Baltic Sport in collaboration with the Mārupe Municipality Council and the Latvian Cycling Federation.

Judges

  • The competition shall be overseen by a team of judges endorsed by the panel of judges of the Latvian Cycling Federation
  • Commissaire of the competition: Edmunds Melderis, LRF Category 1

  

Routes

55 km Sports Route Road traffic will be blocked for the duration of the race in both directions. The track is laid in a cross-country area (fields, forest, dirt roads and paths, water obstacles). The start/finish area is located in Jaunmārupe. The time limit to complete the route is 3 h 20 min.

45 km Popular Route Road traffic will be blocked for the duration of the race in both directions. The track is laid in a cross-country area (fields, forest, dirt roads and paths, water obstacles). The start/finish area is located in Jaunmārupe. The time limit to complete the route is 3 h.

25 km Health Route Road traffic will be blocked for the duration of the race in both directions. The track is laid in a cross-country area (fields, forest, dirt roads and paths, water obstacles). The start/finish area is located in Jaunmārupe. The time limit to complete the route is 2 h 50 min.

500—1500 m Children’s Race The route is set up in the start/finish area. Children will be awarded medals at the finish.

  • Advance registration for the competition will take place until 23:59 on 7 September 2016 at www.maratoni.lv.   
  • Registration on the day of the competition will take place in the registration booth, in the start/finish zone, starting at 8:00.  Registration for each route closes 1 hour before the beginning of the race on the respective routes.
  • If a participant does not join the race or does not arrive at the competition, the respective registration fee is not reimbursed.
  • If a participant wishes to re-register and switch to another route, the participant should send an application to sport@alphabaltic.lv before the final day of registration (7 September). After the registration closes, the full price of the route set by the competition organisers will have to be paid.
  • Any mistakes/imprecisions that occurred during the registration, as well as the corresponding corrections can be reported in writing by 7 September via e-mail: sport@alphabaltic.lv.
  • If the competition is called off due to force-majeure, the registration fees are not reimbursed.
  • Organisations and teams can receive and invoice and settle it via bank transfer. The invoice must be paid for no less than 3 days before the beginning of the competition.
  • 20% off advance participation fee is offered to teams of companies registered in Mārupe Municipality. To receive the discount code, please write to sport@alphabaltic.lv.
  • 30% off advance participation fee is offered to registered residents of Mārupe Municipality. To receive the discount code, please write to sport@alphabaltic.lv.

 

Registration fee includes

  • meal service after the finish;
  • participant equipment (number badges, chips, braces, needles, route maps, free water);
  • bike cleaning service;
  • drinking stations on the routes;
  • professionally arranged track;
  • bicycle repair service at the place of the event;
  • security service at the place of the event;
  • prizes from the sponsors and partners of the event;
  • medical assistance at the place of the event and at the service stations on the routes;
  • provision of results by sending them to the participant mobile phone;

 

Place distribution at the start line

  • Participants will be placed at the start line according to the numbers on their number badges.
  • Number badges are issued according to the registration date on the Sports, Health and Children’s Routes.
  • On the Popular Route, the number badges are issued according to the MTB race results at the Olaine Cycling Marathon.
  • The starting groups for the children’s route are filled according to the age group and separately for boys and girls.

Participant number badge and time measurement chip

  • Participant number badges for the competition are handed out to the participants on the day of the competition at the registration booth; the badges will also be issued in advance, on the day before the competition (the time and place will be specified).
  • Participants registered in advance must pick up their number badge at the registration booth no less than 30 minutes before the start of the race on their chosen route; the badges will also be issued in advance, on the day before the competition (the time and place will be specified).
  • The number badges must be affixed by the participants before taking their places at the start and can only be removed after they finish the race.
  • For the races on the popular and sports routes, the number badges must be attached to the back (2 badges) and to the front of the bicycle.
  • For the Health and Children’s Routes, the number badge must be attached to the handlebars.
  • The specialised time measurement devices, i.e. chips, will be embedded into the number badges.
  • The time measurement chips need not be returned.

Award ceremony

The participants shall join the award ceremony at the request of the organisers. The participants of the award ceremony must attend it in a cycling sports uniform.   Should a prize winner not join the award ceremony, the respective prize will not be awarded.

Sports Route

  • Money prizes will be awarded to the winners of the top 6 places, separately for men and women. The money prizes will be paid in EUROS. The payment of the money prizes will be completed via bank transfers to the bank accounts of the respective participants. On the day of the competition, in the info booth, those who win money prizes must fill in a form guaranteeing the receipt of the money prize. They must present a document confirming their identity (passport, ID card, driving licence).
  • Valuable prizes from the partners of the event will be awarded to the winners of the first 3 places in each age group for men and women separately.

Popular Route

  • Money prizes will be awarded to the winners of the top 6 places, separately for men and women. The money prizes will be paid in EUROS. The payment of the money prizes will be completed via bank transfers to the bank accounts of the respective participants. On the day of the competition, in the info booth, those who win money prizes must fill in a form guaranteeing the receipt of the money prize. Children’s Route

  • Each participant of the Children’s Race will get a medal at the finish.

Health Route

  • The race on the Health Route will not be split into age groups. Results will be recorded for all the participants. Participants will be offered surprises from the event’s partners.

Team ratings

  • Teams are rated separately for each route, except the Health Route. No team rating takes place on the Health Route.
  • The minimum allowed number of members in a team for the team to enter the team ratings is 4.
  • All the members of the team, even if they register individually, must have the full name of the team on them.
  • There is no upper limit for the number of members in a team.
  • Team results are based on the sum of the times of the 4 fastest team members. If this method does not make it possible to determine the best team, the top place is awarded to the team whose fastest athlete obtained the highest place.
  • Valuable prizes from the partners of the event, as well as a certificate and a cup will be awarded to the teams that take the first 3 places in each age group on the Sports, Popular and Children’s Routes.
  • The total team result is evaluated for men and women together.
  • The team ratings on Children’s Route race are determined by summing up 4 highest places won by the team in different age groups.
  • Personal results of the team members are also taken into account.
  • Teams may be registered to represent a company, a club, or as independent teams.
  • There are no limitations on the nationality of the participants.

 

General conditions

  • The organisers are not responsible for the participants’ not knowing or not observing the regulations of the competition.
  • Registering for the competition and paying for it, every participant of the competition must confirm that they take full responsibility for the suitability of their health for the selected route.
  • The competition takes place according to the UCI regulations.
  • Wearing protection helmets designed for cycling is mandatory; attaching any solid objects (such as video cameras) to the helmet is prohibited
  • The participants who ride with an unstrapped protection helmet or without a protection helmet shall be disqualified.
  • It is forbidden to participate with a bicycle that is not in good technical order and is not designed for street riding. The bicycle must be equipped with brakes. The judges of the competition can ban a participant from the competition upon inspecting the technical condition of his/her bicycle.
  • The competition organisers do not take responsibility for the participants who exceed the time limit specified for each route.
  • The competition organisers do not take any responsibility for the participants who join any race without registration or their approval.
  • It is prohibited to ride along the track or be on the track to participants who did not register for the corresponding race.
  • During the race, the participants must observe the traffic laws.
  • The penalty for unauthorised advertising at the place of the competition is 10,000 EUR.
  • During the registration, all the participants must confirm that they do not object to the use of photographs and video recordings taken at the competition for marketing and advertising of the competition.
  • The competition organisers are not responsible for the injuries that may occur during the course of the competition.
  • The production of unauthorised number badges is penalised with race result invalidation.
  • Participants who take unauthorised shortcuts on the route shall be disqualified.
  • Crossing the finish line in the opposite direction is penalised with disqualification.
  • If a participant crosses the finish line repeatedly, the time and place of the last crossing is registered.
  • Doping control may be introduced in the competition.
  • During the race, its participants must in no way affect other participants and their results.
  • Any participant who believes to have been a victim of another participant’s misconduct can lodge a complaint to the commissaire. This must be done within 15 minutes after the complaining participant crosses the finish line, at the information booth.

 

Participants’ attention

  • The judge panel together with the organisers have the power to make decisions on the issues that are not specified in these competition regulations.
  • The organisers together with the judges have the right to introduce changes into the track if due to force majeure completing the planned route is impossible.
  • Preliminary results will be published on the evening after the competition at www.maratoni.lv.
  • The results will be sent in the form of an SMS message to the phone numbers specified by the participants.
  • Confirmed results will be published 1 week after the competition, after assessing any complaints and imprecisions.
  • Any complaints regarding the results shall be sent via e-mail to sport@alphabaltic.lv no more than a week after the competition!
